How to Prepare for your Christmas "In A Box" Photo Session

To ensure your session goes smoothly and you get the best possible results, please review the preparation guide below.

What is an "In A Box" Photo Session?

An "In A Box" session involves posing inside a large white box, where we capture a variety of expressions, poses, and interactions. These images are then creatively arranged into a collage — perfect for holiday cards, gifts, or wall displays.

What to Wear: Christmas Edition

Coordinated outfits help your final collage look polished and festive. Choose a holiday theme and stick with a consistent colour palette across all members of your family.

Outfit Ideas:

• Matching Christmas pyjamas

• Classic red, green, white, or gold outfits

• Santa hats, elf costumes, or reindeer antlers

• Ugly Christmas sweaters

• Cozy winter accessories like scarves and mittens

  
  

Styling Tips:

• Stick to 2–3 main colours for a cohesive look across all boxes

• Outfit changes are permitted if you would like to create a second "look" but will eat into your session time which is strictly limited to 30 minutes

Choose your theme

There will be a range of festive props at the studio which you are welcome to use. These are available in two "looks": one being a vibrant red and green and the other incorporating natural colours and greenery. You may specify which look you prefer in your booking form. The studio will have a range of items on hand:

• Wrapped gift boxes

• Christmas train sets

• Santa hats and a range of other festive headwear

• Candy Canes

• Christmas storybooks

• Small Christmas signs

• Stockings

• Plush toys

You are also welcome to personalise your Box by bringing your own decorations from home or alternatively to have a non-seasonal box which incorporates no props at all.

Posing Tips & What to Expect

• We'll guide you through fun, age-appropriate poses for kids and adults alike

• We'll be creative — sitting, standing, lying down, peeking over the box, or striking a playful pose

• Individuals can pose in separate boxes or together in shared layouts

• Bring any ideas or photo inspiration you have — we love creativity!

• Props can be transitioned between boxes to create interactive scenes

  
  

Before You Arrive

• Arrive a minimum of 5 - 10 minutes early to ensure that we are able to run all client sessions to time. You should ideally arrive ready to get started straight away, in the outfits that you are planning to be photographed in.

• Make sure everyone is well-rested and fed & watered before the session - these sessions are fast and fun!

• Bring a bag for extra clothes, snacks, water, and any props you plan to use

• Review pose ideas and the concept with your family ahead of time to help everyone feel prepared

  
  

After the Session

• Your images will be presented to you in a password protected online gallery. Once you have decided which images you would like in your 3x3 (9 image) grid, your selections will be edited and arranged into a festive collage.

• You’ll receive a digital version of your final image along with digital files of each of the images that you have selected for inclusion in the grid.

• You then have the option to upgrade the size of your grid or to purchase additional grids

• Turnaround time is typically one week.
